Project Information
A personal interpretation on the possibilities of recycled plastic. A material with its own quality and identity. The research arose from the preference to work with the material plastic and the absence of aesthetics in its recycling.

As a designer I started a research that serves as a library of colors and materials in a never ending process. All the possibilities of recycled plastic into new materials to provide me and others with aesthetic materials made from waste.

Started with a bale of HDPE plastic and separating this by color, I sorted, washed and recycled all by hand.

This gave me the opportunity to search for the limit of usefulness and the experiment. This boundary of opportunities and knowledge from the industry and myself excited me to walk new paths.

Within the plastic recycling industry, no distinction is made between the color of the plastic. All colors of a kind of plastic are recycled together, making it a gray raw material (regranulate).

The ways in which materials and colors are used in the process will most likely change. It is a new way of thinking. It started from experimenting with materials and colors that already exist, to give them a second life, a better life.
